About The Class

The Basic Pistol class is for someone who wants to learn the proper way to safely and responsibly use handguns. Are you interested in learning about the different types of pistols and how to safely operate them? Want to learn the fundamentals of shooting and become more accurate? This class if for you. It provides the student with the knowledge needed to safely handle and shoot a handgun.

Topics covered include:

  • Universal Safety Rules
  • Basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely
  • Firearm Basics (Revolver/ Pistol)
  • Pistol parts and operation
  • Ammunition types
  • What to look for when purchasing a firearm
  • Shooting Fundamentals
  • Gear and Gadgets
  • Basic/Advanced Skills
  • An introduction to defensive shooting fundamentals
  • Range Rules

At least 1.5 hours will be live fire on the range applying these shooting fundamentals.

You do not need to own a gun to take the class. Bring your own handgun or contact us to use a class handgun.

USCCA certificate issued upon completion of the class.

 Youth may also attend with an adult.

About the Firearm Instructor:

Ed Bella is a multi-disciplined certified NRA instructor, a NRA range safety officer, USCCA Certified Instructor and a NROI certified USPSA range officer.  He has been a practical competition shooter for over 20 years.  He is also a Match Director for local practical pistol, steel challenge and multi-gun competitions. How do you Register for Class:

We require pre-registration for our classes. Please click the add to cart button above to make your payment or call us at 303-562-1662 to register over the phone.

Where Is The Class Being Held:

The class will be held at the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. After your registration is complete you will receive an email with your receipt and it will contain the exact address and other class information. Please note pre-registration is required and walk-ins are not allowed.

How Do I Apply For My CCW License?

The State of Pennsylvania doesn’t require one to take a class prior to applying for a concealed carry permit. However, carrying a firearm without a clear understanding of State, County, and City laws relating to where/when/how one can carry and defend oneself as well as fundamental skills relating to the SAFE carrying and PROPER use of that firearm both in terms of shooting skills and defensive tactics, is irresponsibleLearn more about our philosophy here.
